Pardo Finishes 18th in His First Nationwide Start of 2008
Posted: Monday, April 21st
MEXICO CITY, Mexico – Ruben Pardo, driving the Fitz Motorsports Telcel / Bombardier LearJet-sponsored No. 22 Dodge Charger, finished 18th Sunday in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Corona Mexico 200 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez 8-turn road course. The race marked Pardo’s first Nationwide Series event of 2008 and his first since April 2007 at Nashville Superspeedway.
A native of Mexico, Pardo started 16th and quickly moved through the field to run as high as second, behind then-race-leader Scott Pruett.
Late in the race, the Fitz Motorsports Dodge looked to have a solid top-five finish within reach when, with just 10 laps to go, Pardo was pushed off the track by another car, dropping him to the 32nd position. Pardo pitted for four fresh tires and quickly moved up through the field to gain 14 positions and finish an impressive 18th.
Fitz Motorsports’ No. 22 Dodge is currently 13th in Nationwide Series owners point standings after 9 of 35 scheduled races. The team has one top-5 and one top-10 finish to its credit in 2008.
The No. 22 Dodge will race again Saturday in the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, where Sprint Cup regular Reed Sorenson will be behind the wheel.
